By using this free service you allow us to publish your photos and historical documents on The Tibesar Archives and, you allow us to store a digital copy of your DVD here at the Archives. Please note we will not publish living family members important documents but, we will publish important photos.
- Be sure to follow these instructions before mailing your photos and documents:
- Remove and collect all of your 5×7 or larger photos from your photo albums, shoe boxes, picture frames, walls, desk drawers, filing cabinets, refrigerator, attic, garage and closets. Sorry but, we do not accept photo albums nor photos in frames or envelopes. Tip: carefully remove old photos from glued photo album pages using a clean putty knife.
- If present, clean the backings of your photos of any glue, tape, old labels or any sticky materials. Old photo albums will sometimes leave glue residue on the backs of your photos and this glue will damage our scanner. Sticky photos will not feed properly. Your photos (especially the backings) should be as clean as possible and fan easily like a deck of playing cards and not stick together. Photos with staples, tears, paperclips, dirt and tar, excessive damage, or heavy non-bendable backings will not be scanned.
- Print on the back of all photos who, what, where and when the photo was taken. We duplex scan your photos meaning we scan both sides of the photo.
- Sort and batch your photos by the approximate size of your prints (i.e. batch all 8x10s and similar sized photos together and then 5x7s and similar sized photos). You do not have to separate the black & white photos from the color photos. Note: Large odd-sized photos are acceptable.
- Place your batches of photos into ZipLoc® bags. Note: do not use rubber bands since rubber bands will curl, warp and damage your photos.
- Neatly pack the batches by size order into a high quality, sturdy and durable box. Tip: you can order free, sturdy boxes from the US Postal Service’s usps.com website. Use bubble wrap if you are concerned about any bending of your photos during shipment. Do NOT overstuff the box and, if needed, fill empty spaces with proper filling material (i.e. packing peanuts).
- Place a sheet of paper inside your box of photos that indicates your full name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number. Seal and securely tape the box (use enough mailing tape to make sure the box remains fully intact during shipping).
- Important – to make sure we are home, please send an e-mail letting us know you will be mailing your photos and documents to us! We do not scan during the holidays.
- Mail your photos and $10 (to cover shipping costs) via traceable means (UPS, FedEx, or the United States Postal Service) to:
